12 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Visit a bookstore and buy a wedding planner or organizer
  • Talk with your fiance and all parents about the “big picture”
  • Decide on and book a ceremony & reception site
  • Start shopping for your dress
  • Choose your attendants
  • Mail save-the-date cards
  • Publish your engagement announcement in local newspapers

 

10 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Start researching all other vendors (caterer, photographer, baker, florist..etc)
  • Visit your clergymember for premarital requirements (if any)

8 MONTHS PRIOR

  • Book your other vendors (caterer, photographer, baker, florist..etc))
  • Choose and order your dress
  • Register for your gifts
  • Begin the guestlist

6 MONTHS PRIOR

  • Start researching the honeymoon
  • Plan the details with all of your vendors
  • Order all wedding stationary
  • Researve a block of hotel rooms for out-of-town guests
  • Secure rentals (if applicable)

4 MONTHS PRIOR

  • Finalize your honeymoon plans and make bookings
  • Finalize the guest list
  • Make an appointment for your first dress fitting
  • Order your wedding rings
  • Make an appointment with your hairstylist for a practice run and final appointment
  • Schedule the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
  • Select and reserve tuxedos for the groom & groomsmen
  • Book a hotel room for the wedding night
  • Choose and order favors

2 MONTHS BEFORE

  • Visit your officiant to go over vows or start writing your own
  • Buy a guest book
  • Shop for lingerie, honeymoon clothes, luggage
  • Have your wedding portraits taken
  • Check your state laws concerning marriage requirements
  • Mail your invitations
  • Choose gifts for all attendants
  • Arrange your or your fiances move (if applicable)
  • Research name change requirements and get forms

6 WEEKS BERFORE

  • Schedule the final dress fitting
  • Pick up the rings
  • Get programs printed
  • Plan your bridesmaids’ party
  • Write thank-you notes as you receive gifts
  • Send your announcements to the newspaper
  • Make copies of ceremony readings for those involved
  • Buy each other a wedding gift

2 WEEKS BEFORE

  • Get your marriage license
  • Submit list of must-take shots to the photographer & playlist to musicians
  • Arrange the seating plan
  • Confirm honeymoon reservations
  • Break in your shoes
  • Write toasts for the rehearsal dinner and reception

1 WEEK BEFORE

  • Pack for the honeymoon
  • Check on ATM/Credit card usage at honeymoon site
  • Give final guest count to caterer
  • Confirm times, dates and any other details with your wedding vendors
  • Keep up with thank-you notes
  • Remind all attendees of the rehearsal details
  • Throw the bridesmaids’ party
  • Pick up your dress a few days before the wedding

1 DAY BEFORE

  • Trerat yourself and your mom to a manicure and pedicure
  • Place a “touch base” call to your vendors
  • Hold the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner

DAY OF THE WEDDING

  • Eat breakfast
  • Relax
  • Enjoy your  day!
